What Causes Lump In The Cheek After Removal Of Wisdom Tooth?
Hi, I had my lower wisdom tooth remover 3 weeks ago and a hard lump in my cheek formed a week later, I got antibiotics from my dentist but this did nothing, then they filled the hole with a clove smelling gel. The lump is still in my cheek and seems to have got bigger in the last day. What could this be and how can I treat it?
As per your complain in case if you have a lump over the cheek and also if after a week the socket was filled with a clove smell gel, it is indicating towards Dry socket that is an unhealed socket and it can cause inflammation and lump formation .
The material placed in the socket helps in promoting healing..
If the lump is increasing in size then probably the infection and inflammation is increasing and you need to consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics along with anti inflammatory painkiller and a steroid shot ca be given to reduce swelling.. Along with it if the socket is not healing then placing the Zinc Oxide Eugenol dressing on every alternate day will help in healing..
Also start doing cool compresses over the lump and do warm saline gargles..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
