What Causes Lump Near Elbow Joint, On Upper Arm And Torso?

My son has a walnut sized lump under the skin close to his elbow joint, on the upper arm, against his torso. There is a little faint bruising on the inner elbow. He does not seem to be in any pain and his arm works fine. I gave him a bath about two hours ago and the bump was not there, so I m not sure where it came from or how long ago. Is this an emergency, or can we get it checked at his regular doctor on monday?

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like bursitis, but I cannot be sure without a physical examination. Children have sensirive skin and at times even a mild insect bite can swell up quite a bit. I do not consider this an emergency and would say you can wait till your usual monday appointment.
