Hi..
Can understand your concern..
As per your complain if you have got the temporary crown placed and the tooth on which it is placed was not root canal treated previously, in that case pain and swelling can occur if the tooth preparation that was done to fit the crown has been done in excess leading to
nerve exposure which are present in the centre of the tooth.
The cementing material used to stick the crown causes irritation of the nerves leading to inflammation and pain and swelling are the signs of inflammation..
If the tooth is previously root canal treated any remaining infection or a missed root canal which still contains nerves in it can lead to pain and swelling..
Swelling can also occur if the infection or inflammation leads to pus formation near the root tips of the affected tooth and the pus accumulates in the soft tissues causing swelling.
I would suggest you to consult your
dentist back and first of all get an
x ray done so that the exact cause can be ruled out and if there is infection or inflammation the crown needs to be removed
root canal treatment has to be done and if it was already done repetition of the treatment is to be done..
Once the pain and infection completely subsides then crown can be placed again..
Antibiotics and painkillers will be continued along with the treatment..
Hope your query is solved..
