Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I impacted my shin against someone during football practice. It swole up pretty big an hour later, bruised a day or two later. That was two weeks ago and the lump is still there, slightly smaller by the day maybe. No pain to walk on it past the first day. Will it go away by itself?
I have gone through your query and can understand..
As per your complain as you have got hit with a football there has been injury to the soft tissues over the shin leading to hematoma formation due to rupture of small blood vessels.. Many a times the hematoma gets encapsulated by inflammatory cells, damaged fibres and ruptured blood vessels and inflamed tissue leading to formation of a hard and firm lump.. It takes a long time to resolve so you need not to worry as it will gradually regress.. You can do alternate warm and cool compresses over it and also apply a heparin gel over it for faster disruption of clot..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
