Hi,

Based on the symptoms of your husband, the possibilities are an enlarged tonsil with dryness of mouth. Pressure in the ears is most probably an indication of an infection. Proper clinical examination with detailed history can guide clinically and will get you started on proper antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicines, Povidone iodine gargles, symptomatic and supportive.

If the swelling is on one side with a long history then he will need further investigations like MRI of tonsils to see for any cyst, malignancy that is cancer or so. Lymphoma being the commonest of all cancers. If the cause is infective he will recover soon and completely on completing the courses of medicines as would be advised by his Doctor. Also needed is to look for the cause of pressure in the ears and other symptoms which usually is related to infection and inflammation which can be well treated with proper medications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
