What Causes Lump Under The Incision Post Coronary Bypass Surgery?

my wife had coronary bypass surgery about first of October and had no problem with area on her legs where the veins were harvested. Now one area has developed a hard knot about the size of a large walnut under the incision area. Is this something to be concerned about?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about your wife having had coronary bypass surgery, developed a large walnut sized swelling in leg at the incision are in leg.
The commonest reasons I can think about are one of the following:
FB granuloma, may be dye to thread used for tying.
Cyst or so.
Ruptured vein.
advise you the following in such a situation:
Take her to a General Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like Ultrasound if required.
As per the cause found, treatment will be guided; for example is there is a stitch granuloma then a small surgery will cure the problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
