What Causes Lumps In Neck After Treated Flu?

I’m 35 years old healthy female, 4 years ago, August 2010, I got a bad flu and I felt horrible pain around my neck, when I put my hand on my neck I found two small balls one on my right side and one on my left side. I have Kaiser (HMO insurane), my doctor said it’s because of the flu and I got one pack antibiotic and after one month I found the 2 lymph nodes may be smaller but did not disappear, I went to Kaiser again they ordered blood test, came back normal, I went to another Doctor (Private) he ordered blood test and he said nothing to worry, I went back to Kaiser , they kept doing blood test for me every 3 months and they did other blood test for HIV and kidneys and all sexual diseases and last year after I fought with them, they did CT Scan and they found the biggest one size is 0.8 cm and they said it’s normal and I should not worry. So far I saw 5 doctors and they said not to worry and the last one I saw was at Kaiser last week, she told me stop touching it and try to forget it because they won’t disappear and they refused my request of Biopsy and they said the size is normal but I’m really scared and I cannot stop thinking about it and what about if it’s cancer and they don’t know?? How would they know if they did not do a biopsy?? Last visit she said if it was a cancer and you have it for four years you would have other symptoms. I don’t know what to do special after they said no need for biopsy and I’m really scared and when I go to bed at night I touch them and I can stop crying. Please let me know what do you think, I’m tired of doctors, each time they touch them and I got a smile ohhhhhh don’t worry you are fine. If I’m fine why they did not disappear?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You may have some enlarged lymphnode. It is most likely to be due reactive hyperplasia. Chances of lymphoma or metastatic carcinoma is rare. But if you feel anxiety then you should go for fine needle aspiration cytology or biopsy of that lump. It will give you exact diagnosis and peace to your mind. Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
