What Causes Lumps With Itching In The Abdominal Area?
I wasn t very concerned at first thinking that the bumps were simply pimples or ingrown hairs but now I m starting to worry. These bumps are appearing in small clusters on the shaft, base, and lower abdomen. They seem to have a white center that is relatively easy to scrape off leaving it to resemble a crater of some sort. They now itch and burn sometimes leaving the whole groin area sore to the touch and by movement. I did hookup with my ex recently after about two years but she did not appear to have this condition. I also might have worn a pair of my brother s briefs by mistake. I read that this is most likely mollusca contagiosum but I would greatly appreciate a second opinion see as how some of my descriptions do not quite match up with other symptoms. Thanks in advance.
Hi. As per your case history you are having folliculitis. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
