What Causes Lumpy Cervix Around The Tip With Recurring Shooting Pain?
Hi I have history of ovarian cysts and mild endometriosis. I have not long had the coil removed so have not had a proper period for nearly a year. My concerns are my cervix I have always checked it and its always been even and very smooth but it seems to be changing now it is lumpy around the tip and I keep getting shooting pains in the cervix should I be concerned or am I worrying over something silly?
Discomfort, pain or irritation in the cervix is commonly due to cervicitis. Cervicitis is caused by STD, mainly chlamydia & gonorrhea.
Visit a gynecologist, get a pelvic examination done. Your treating gynecologist may suggest you go through blood workouts, Urinalysis, pap smear, biopsy if required.
If you are sexually active you should get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.
You are suggested to avoid sex for a couple of days. Stay away from addictions if any. Take care of your hygiene.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
