What Causes Lymphatic Fluid Leak Despite Sutured Scrotum Post Urinary Sphincter Removal
My father had a urinary sphincter device removed. He had an opening in the scrotum where some of the tubing had poked through. Opening in scrotum was sutured after removal of the tubing. He is now leaking what may be lymphatic fluid, mostly at night, but he soaks the entire bed. No color, no odor, no pain, not blood or pus. Leaks some during the day causing briefs and pants to have to be changed. Has had lymphedema in the left leg for at least 20 years because of prostate cancer resulting in radiation treatments and eventually resulting in removal of the prostate ans testicles.
The leak of fluid from scrotal wound indicates urinary fistula most likely. The fluid is actually urine and has to be confirmed at biochemistry lab with microscopy examination. The tissue anatomy, configuration and other soft tissue details need to be assessed with an MRI of the scrotum and urethra as well.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
