What Causes Lymphoma On Arm?

My 75 yr old mother inlaw had a X-ray today because her left arm has been hurting for a long time. The pain starts at the shoulder and ends at her hand. The ER dr said nothing was broke but saw a lymphoma knot/lump and to follow up with her dr. Should I be worried?
