What Causes Macular Degeneration?

I suddenly seemed to exhibit symptoms of macular degeneration. I also recently started using urotrol patches (about 10 days ago.) Urotrol's website mentions eye problems but not specifically this one. Do you think it might be a side effect or do you think I might be developing macular degeneration? I plan to call an ophthalmologist on Monday.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
Macular degeneration is because of age related changes which occur in the macula of the retina resulting in distorted vision and diminution of vision.
Urotol patches are not associated with macular degeneration.
An examination of retina by a ophthalmologist by simple ophthalmoscopy will rule out macular degeneration.

Thank you
