What Causes Memory Loss While Suffering From Prostate Cancer?

My father who is 88 years old ,has advanced stage prostate cancer and is usually functionally sharp but with minor trouble remembering names has in the past 2 days begun to be unable to say what he is trying to say and the words used in a sentence are jerky and somewhat accidental. He thinks he may have suffered a (TMI) mini stroke. He has a scheduled doctors appointment Monday ,April 2nd and refuses to go to the emergency room before his appointment. What should we do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I appreciate your concern. He needs to go to the ER. Brain imaging is likely to be required especially with focal neurology or a deficit which has occurred acutely. Other causes such as a subdural hematoma should also be looked for with such a presentation.

Wishing you best of health
Thanks
