What Causes Menstrual Bleeding With Large Blood Clots Post Child Birth?

I started my second period yesterday after having my first baby 2 months ago, and every time I go to the bathroom I have at least 2 blood clots bigger then the size of a quarter. An some smaller ones like the size of a nickel. And heavy bleeding. In about an hour my regular size tampon and pad was full. What could it be? It s been all day yesterday an this morning, I m scared and my clinic won t be open tell Monday. The nearest hospital is about an hour away. What could it be? Is it bad? Should I go to the ER?

Hello dear,

Thank you for your contact to health care magic.

I read and understand your concern.

I am Dr Arun Tank answering your concern.

It is probably not a menstrual bleeding. It is likely to be some hemorrhagic focus causing a bleeding.

If you are breastfeeding mother than you will never start the period this much earliest. Until you continue your feeding you will not receive the period that is the thumb rule.

As you have hemorrhage it will possibly a hemorrhage from the wound.

Kindly check out at earliest to seal the wound other wise it will create a infection.

Please maintain good hygiene until you visit to the doctors, you can clear the local part with dettol regularly.

If you are not breastfeeding to baby than immediately start it.

I will be happy to answer your further concern on bit.ly/DrArun.

Thank you,
Dr Arun Tank
