What Causes Menstrual Like Cramps While Having Positive UPT Results?

Hi Dr. I just would like to know whether it is possible to feel period-like cramping and still get positive pregnancy test? I had IUI on 26th Oct and prescribed Duphastone for three weeks. My expected period due was yesterday and I'm experiencing cramping since last Wednesday. I feel like going to get my period soon...hmmmmm.

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. Cramping can occur as a premenstrual phenomenon and also while the fertilized ovum is propelled through tubal contraction toward the uterus for implantation of the embryo. In the current scenario, I would ask you to wait for your expected period and go for a HPT 3-7 days later if you miss it. If you wish to have an earlier and better clarification, you can get the blood test done. The symptoms of an impending period can also be seen with a very early pregnancy. Hope this helps.
