What Causes Metallic Taste In The Mouth While On Multiple Medications?

Currently taking prednisone for interstitial lung disease with mixed connective tissue, lupus, arthritis and fibromyalgia. Started on 60 mg in May and I m down to 7.5 mg now. I also take cellcept and I m on oxygen. I keep getting a metallic taste in my mouth after each meal even if cook or bake from scratch. What could be causing this??

Hi,

As per your complain metallic taste in mouth when you are on multiple medications is a clear indication that you are suffering from side effects of medication and as you mentioned Prednisolone, it is one of the common drugs to cause metallic taste in mouth.

As gradually the medication intake will be stopped or reduced in concentration the taste will get better. As of now to mask bad taste, you should chew flavoured sugar free chewing gum. Gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash. Drink plenty of water.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
