What Causes Metallic Taste In The Mouth?

I have a copper or metallic taste in mouth when my dentures are not in, I am a Type 2 diabetic whose blood sugars are being controlled by injectible insulin and oral medications, a headache behind my left eye accompanies this metallic taste, headache goes away on its own within 10 minutes, this is happening on a daily basis and due to holidays will not be able to see my internist for 3 weeks
