What Causes Metatarsalgia?

I have been experiencing pain across the metatarsal area of my right foot. I am a runner, and at the end of my season I was experiencing something like tendinitis right on the bridge of my foot, and it was healing, but then on a later run, I rolled my ankle and it made the pain flair up and it is now all over my foot and my lower ankle even. It s been like this for about a week and a half. Any guesses?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Metatarsalgia is a common overuse injury in runners. Mild foot pain may recover within a few days to a few weeks, while severe foot pain may take longer to recover.

Take ibuprofen for pain and rest and elevate your leg.Metatarsalgia is best prevented by wearing shoes that fit well and provide cushioning and support.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
