Please explain more about Middlesmertz, and how it can occur AFTER a person has already had a hysterectomy (but still has their ovaries).
I very SUDDENLY had so much pain in a restaurant (just as our food arrived at the table) and was in such agony that I couldn't even speak!
I was taken to the emergency room, and my OB/GYN just "happened" to be there at that time, so my own dr was the one who saw me. After he'd ordered several tests done, he told me (after I had come out of this "spell") that I had experienced a Middlesmertz attack.
He said, "There's not too many things in this world much-more painful, according to what patients have told me, but it's not a life-threatening situation, just extremely painful. What happens is that you ovulate, even though you've had a partial hysterectomy, and it secrets an acid which goes through the linings of your abdomen that burns and hurts, much as a dangerous acid which one might accidentally consume."
So (if you agree w/his description of M.) is this pretty much the only thing we know about this rare occurance? (Or maybe it ISN'T so rare, but I had never heard of Middlesmertz before that; of course I've heard of it since, as seems always the case w/something we learn about that's new to us!)
