What Causes Mild Bleeding During Periods While On Birth Control?

I am on heather birth control, and my periods are very regular. I ve have two very heavy periods the past two months and this month I can t tell if I m on my period or not. I have the usual acne and tender breasts, and cramping but I am barely bleeding at all. Have been doing it for two days but only see blood when a tampon has been in. Also I haven t had sex since September and have had periods after that. Can someone please explain to me what is going on?!?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Slight spotting and abnormal bleeding is quite common while taking hormonal pills. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself. If bleeding persists better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
