What Causes Mild Discomfort In The Chest And Numbness In The Shoulder?
I have a weird feeling in my chest, its been going on for a while now and my shoulder can feel somewhat numb. I don t think its anxiety but im not a doctor. I work for a national park service and we have a lot of ticks and most of my co workers have been treated for lymes disease. I do daily checks for ticks but sometimes its the next morning and I still may find one on me somehow. My father had 3 heart attacks before passing away from cancer at age 45, I am currently 33 years old and a non smoker. I have been hooked up to an ekg machine twice and they say everything looks fine. It just seems to be getting worse every day. What do you think it could be
Hello there, Thanks for your question. I am Dr Asanghanwa Carlson. Going through your story I would say you have a contributive family history of heart attacks and cancer. Heart attack is generally due to a reduction of blood flow to the a part or all of the heart due to an obstruction of a major of minor heart blood vessel. The signs and symptoms of heart attack could be a feeling of tightness in the chest, difficulties breathing, chest pains radiating to the shoulder and dizziness. The fact that you have been having a few of these signs are in favour of a coronary syndrome (reduction of blood flow to the heart). A normal EKG does not exclude some potentially dangerous heart condition. I would advice that you consult a cardiologist and explain your symptoms to him so other tests are done on you for a proper diagnosis and appropriate management. I wish you a quick recovery. Key word: Cardiologist consultation
