What Causes Mild Fever With Chills And Loss Of Appetite?

I have had achiness and low grade fever with chills for past 2 days. No sore throat, no coughing or congestion. Alternating tylenol and ibuprofen every 4 to 5 hrs. Coincidentally I visited my sister in law the previous weekend and she reported to me that she came down with the same symptoms about the same time I did. Is this some sort of flu? And how should I treat it? I have been drinking lots of water, eating jello and scrambled eggs. Not much of an appetite for anything else.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the mild fever with chills and loss of appetite do indicate possible gastric or intestine bug infection via bacteria or virus most likely.

My guidelines at present

- keep a record of body temperature measured by thermometer on 6 hour basis
- consume boiled water, lemon juice, coconut water, home made juices
- prefer to consume easily digestible food stuffs with organic fresh fruits
- avoid all spices, non veg, junk foods, dairy fat
- if there is persistent temperature beyond 99 for 24 hours , it is advisable to visit your primary care and discuss the need of prescription of GI specific antibiotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
