What Causes Mild Itchiness In The Penis Opening?

Male, 25.Well I woke up this morning with a very slight itchy feeling on the opening of my penis. Rubbed it a little to see if that might help and noticed a little wetness formed on my fingertips. I assumed it was pee & I figured the area was just scratched/irritated when I was sleeping. Throughout the day the itching has become a little more noticeable and the wetness still occurs every now and then. Please note the itchiness is still slight and not painful in any way. I’ve also peed numerous times today and felt no pain. Visual,My penis still looks the same as any day. No noticeable redness or inflammation.Sexual history Was tested last year in November or December and nothing showed up on the results. Since then, I’ve only had one sexual encounter with a friend which was a blow job without a condom given Jan 15. Tried doing a little research online and was unable to find anything related to what I have. Anyways, any help will be much appreciated, thank you.

Hello,

Itchiness in the penis is commonly due to candidiasis, male thrush or contact dermatitis. You can apply hydrocortisone or antifungal cream or ointment in the area affected. Avoid scratching.

Get physically examined by a GP, you may require to take a course of oral fluconazole. Antihistamines are also effective. Take medicines under a local treating GP.

Avoid multiple partners, take care of your hygiene. Make sure you are not allergic to latex (condom). Prefer protected sex.

Your symptoms should reduce in a week. If not, you may have to get a repeat STD test done to be on the safer side for you may require antibiotics & antivirals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
