Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Mild Pain And Discomfort In Chest Post Bronchoscopy?
I had a bronchoscopy on Wednesday. Felt fine Wed. afternoon and Thursday. I have a little discomfort in my chest and advil is doing the trick. It hurts when I sneeze or cough (not coughing much maybe a few times a day) A little tender when I sit up from a reclining position. Could this be from the bronchoscopy? Perhaps some bruising from the scope? I am planning to call my Pulminologist tomorrow. Pain is about a 2 in a scale from 1-10 10 being the worst. Thanks
Hi, i do care for your concern. You have not mentioned the reason for bronchoscopy? however the pain produced may be due to the procedure done, as the bronchoscope is a rigid structure and may cause little of mucosal damage. This is usual following the procedure. I would advise to take rest and pain killer prescribed by your doctor. usually the inflammation process settles down within 4 or 5 days, hence need not panic as everything will be fine.Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
