Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Mild Pain In Forehead And Sinusitis Inspite Of Taking Claritin?
When my husband got out of bed this morning he felt like he was being pulled to one side so he would stagger some. I would say this was mild and got better over the course of the day. However, he had a mild headache in his forehead. He said he could feel that it was kind of tender to the touch. Just wondering if he should see a doctor - could this be associated with stroke or perhaps sinus infection. He has a lot of sinusitis and takes Claritin D when he has a flare up. He is very aware of the beginning of a sinus infection. He did not seem to be congested.
The symptoms are suggestive of sinusitis.Along with antihistamines and nasal decongestants, antibiotics may be required.
Antibiotics are standard treatments for bacterial sinus infections. Antibiotics are usually taken from 3 to 28 days, depending on the type of antibiotic. Because the sinuses are deep-seated in the bones, and blood supply is limited, longer treatments may be prescribed for people with longer lasting or severe cases.
Pain killers can be taken to reduce headache.Steam inhalation is also highly beneficial.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
