What Causes Mild Pain In Lower Back And Pain During Urination In An Elderly Person?

Hello. My name is Debbie and I am 63 years old. I think I have a bladder infection. This started yesterday morning about 7:00 AM. I had a dull pain in my lower back on my right side. And then it became painful to urninate. I did look online and was confused with the symptoms for apendex and kidney stones. I hate to run to the hospital for nothing.

You could have a bladder or kidney infection. Bad ones can be difficult to distinguish from appendicitis. This requires evaluation and treatment, even if "just" a bladder infection. You do not necessarily have to go to the hospital, but either see your doctor today or go to urgent care and get it diagnosed. That way you will be able to be assured that treatment is started appropriately, whether it is serious or relatively minor. Hope this helps.
