General & Family Physician 's  Response
I understand your concern. I understand your concern. The possible cause may be muscle strain, ligament/cartilage tear, small rib fracture or pleural effusion. First the cause of cough needs to be deciphered.
Advise
1.     Chest X-ray PA view
2.     Hot fomentation locally in area of pain thrice daily. It will give relief if it is due to muscle strain
3.     Apply muscle relaxant (such as Volino gel) locally thrice daily
4.     Get a check-up of your throat & nose with an ENT specialist
5.     You can take syrup Benadryl 2 teaspoonful thrice daily to suppress cough if your cough is bothering you much.
Good luck
