What Causes Mild Seizure And Loss Of Appetite In An Infant?
Hi, My 6 month old recently had what seemed like a 3 second seizure (?), his head shook in a super short quick fashion for about three seconds while he was eating and falling asleep for a nap. This has never happened before and he has been beyond normal healthy since he was born. He was refusing to eat as much as he normally does a day or two prior which has now been fixed. Do you have any ideas as to what it might be? He now seems very mildly shaky in his arms and legs, like a weak tired shaky. He's a little less feisty than normal and we just had a 1.5 hour nap. Any thoughts? Thank you
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts
I can understand your concern. Sudden onset jerks in head could occur due to seizure. In infants this should be evaluated properly. Get his calcium levels checked as altered calcium levels are common reason behind sudden onset jerks. EEG can help to find out any subclinical electric discharge in brain and is need of hour. If seizures recur then MRI or CT scan should be done to rule out any morphological cause of these symptoms. Visit a doctor for evaluation and treatment. Commonly Phenobarbitone, Sodium Valproate etc are used in treatment.
Thanks, Hope this helps you.
Take care
