What Causes Mild Swelling And Pain In The Left Inner Ankle?

I have been having a pain in my left inner ankle. It has a little swelling, more like fluid retention. It hurts off and on thru the day. The pain is more like a burning feeling than an ache, It is not hot to the touch, It will hurt when just at rest and when active.
