What Causes Milk To Ooze From Breasts Post Abortion?
i had an abortion 3 months ago and was given the DEPO shot the same day. I was 7-8 weeks pregnant. I noticed today that If I squeeze my breast...milk comes out but I haven t had sex in 3 weeks and I m just now due for depo so I can t be pregnant. Is it normal to have milk in breasts still?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Since you are on depo and had abortion recently, there would be hormonal changes happening and as a result, there would be some changes noticed in your breasts. You might be having excessive secretion of prolactin (hyperprolactinemia), which can give rise to abnormal production of milk (galactorrhea). Prolactin inhibitors are agents that inhibit the production of prolactin, a hormone that stimulates milk production. Kindly get your blood checked for serum Prolactin levels. Consult Gynecologist with report for administration of proper dose of prolactin inhibitors which are dopamine agonists like bromocriptine or cabergoline. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
