What Causes Miscarriage And How Can It Be Avoided?

I am having miscarriage problems. I had 1 missed miscarriage 10 years ago (was10 weeks when this was discovered-baby died earlier) followed by a termination the same year, then in 2010 I had spontaneous rupture of membranes at 25 weeks. I stayed in hospital and baby was born in a state, but live at 30 weeks. No reason was found for pprom. I have since missed miscarried in August (9weeks-only yolk was seen in sac) and also this week, my 11th wk of preg(baby measured 7wk 5 days and previously had heartbeat at 6 and 7 week scans). I live in england. I am 36. What advice could you give me? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
Following are the causes of repeated abortion: Chromosomal anomalies, cervical incompetence/ uterine anomaly, diabetes, unknown cause (40-45 % case), Anti phospholipid antibody syndrome, bleeding disorder, autoimmune disease like SLE and dermatomyosis.
Consult the gynecologist and fetal medicine specialist to find the causes after proper investigations like karyotyping study of both partner, blood sugar, CBC, ESR, anti ds DNA and anti mitochondrial antibodies, APLA screening, PT and APTT test, endometrial biopsy, USG and hysteroscopy.
Successful pregnancy should be possible after getting proper treatment.
Generally aspirin, heparin, progesterone and HCG injection should be given during pregnancy to maintain pregnancy and cervical encirclement procedure in if cervical incompetence will be detected.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
