What Causes Missed Periods Post Uterine Ablation For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?
I am 37 years old and had a uterine ablation a year and a half ago for heavy menstrual bleeding. Post ablation my periods remained regular and very light. I went for my annual on May 8, 2015 and everything was normal. I had my period on May 15 and have not had one since. I feel totally normal, nothing out of the ordinary. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
In uterine ablation the inner lining of uterus is destroyed, thus heavy menses are treated. Most of the ladies who have undergone uterine ablation have lighter or no menses after the procedure. You had few scanty menses followed by no periods. The problem of excessive bleeding has been removed! It's due to success of the process.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
