General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Since pregnancy is ruled out, number of factors affect the monthly cycles. Increased physical exercise, stress and lack of rest, dietary changes, excess travel and many other factors can cause lighter periods. Hormonal imbalance caused by ovarian cysts, hypothyroidism, nutritional deficiencies like anemia, insulin resistance should also be ruled out.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
