What Causes Missing Periods And Negative Pregnancy Tests?

Hi doctor, today its the 5th day that i missed my periods,morning i had taken the pregneney test in which the result showed as -ve..when i consulted my doctor she advised me to take deviry 10mg to get the periods.should i take the medicine or wait for few more days and do the test again.Please advise
