Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Mood Swings And Nausea After Taking Plan B?
I had sex on the 25th of November. I took a pregnancy test the day I was supposed to receive my period and it was negative. I got my period on time. I had sex again the third of December and then the fifth again. The last time there was an accident so I took a plan b pill the fifth. I have been having mood swings, cramping, and nausea, then roday the 11th I received brown spotting. I am not supposed to receive my period till the 27th. Is this side effects from the pill? Or am I pregnant from the 25th?
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As a physician I would assure that you are most definitely not pregnant because you had sex on 25th at end of your cycle and again taken plan B on 5th, that too within 72 hours of sex on 3rd. So that rules out chances of being pregnant.Plan-b contains hormone levonorgestrel 1.5 gram. There is sometimes bleeding following consumption of this pill. So your bleeding is most probably because of this only. I would also like to tell you that you should use a regular contraceptive Pills like OC Pills instead of Plan-B because it is a emergency contraceptive and it has many side effects.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr.Abhijeet
