What Causes Mood Swings And Weight Gain While Taking Microgestin?

I am 46 yrs old and taking fluoxetine 10mg for symptoms of pre menopause and recently started taking microgestin 1.5/30. I feel as though I have put on weight and have mood swings and symptoms of, what I consider to be, depression. Could it be caused by the combo of these rx s?

Hello and welcome.

Fluoxetine will only help to treat your depression. Pre-menopause and menopause can lead to depression and so it is important to treat any hormonal imbalance you have at this point. The microgestin should help to control your hormone levels to a certain extent. But if you feel your symptoms are getting worse then you may require to revisit your doctor.

Best wishes.
