What Causes Mood Swings, Anxiety And Low Libido After A Hysterectomy?

Hello my name is Tina and I have a question about hormones and hysterectomies I had a partial hysterectomy last August. I was told as long as I kept my ovaries that hormone replacement wouldn t be needed. I dont feel like myself before the surgery. I get very emotional, anxious, my sex drive has even changed. Is this common and what should I discuss option wise with my gynecologist about...hormone replacement or menopause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.I understand youe concern.
As long as ovaries are intact the estrogen secretion would continue as usual till menopause.
I feel Your, nervousness, anxiousness &emotions are due to psychological feeling of incompleteness.
As the time passes.. & you realize hardly any difference in life .. more over getting rid of the physical problems before hysterectomy .. this psychological symptoms would go away &you would start enjoying life.
So you need nothing but patience. positive attitude &efforts to restart happy life .Probably psychological counselling would hasten the process.
Thanks.
