I am a 28-year-old woman on ortho-tricyclin and just got my hormones checked because I have been experiencing mood swings. My estrogen levels were very low (total estrogen 35 pg/ml, but this was the beginning of my cycle). My question is can birth control lower estrogen levels? I would think that they would make estrogen levels higher. My doctor was very unhelpful in reading these numbers and made me feel like I will have trouble having a child when I decide that this is something I want.
Yes, you are right. Your level of estrogen should be high and you have to adjust it when you want to get pregnant, so you should ask another doctor to do some more lab investigations.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
