1 have taken 3 pills of clonazepan over 2 days -12 hours a part and am having trouble walking a straight line and periodically bounce of walls.(could the pills be connected?] I am 75 and my business partner of 15 years has transitioned from an exceptionally hard working partner to my being her caretaker for her alzhemers over 5 years and my wife is in the first stage of alzheimers. I am still doing window coverings in las vegas and I sense i am on overload not to mention over looking my two homes, and 3 vehicles, plus my degenerating health from head to feet. I have always been a can do, will do, have done person. I visited a pain management doctor yesterday and he perscribed Clonazepam 1 MG. I'm also taking lisinopril 5mg and warfarin 5Mg. do to a blood clot in my left calf that turned into massive blood clots in the lungs. Other than the last five years my health has been abnormally healthy. God is now getting even. ]
I can understand your concern. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine drug. The drug is a long acting benzodiazepine used for anxiety and sleep conditions. The drug is known to cause cognitive and motor impairment in high doses.
You are 75 and you have been given 1 mg dose. The 1 mg dose considering your age is really very high. Its not advisable to prescribe benzodiazepines in high dose after 60 years of age. (Though I am not aware of your detailed history). You have take 3 mg of drug in two days and this is the reason of motor imbalance you are having. Avoid taking the drug again and visit your doctor again. Low doses 0.25 to 0.5 mg would work and avoid taking heavy dose again. The imbalance will decrease in a couple of days.
Thanks. Take care
