What Causes Mucus In Stool And Appetite Loss In An Infant?

My 5 month old daughter just switched to a Similac hypoallergenic formula, she is having very wet, and slimey discharges in her stools. It has been going on for just over a week. I looked up the stool chart for Similac and it said dehydration and loss of appetite. Which lines up. She s only had 14 ounces today which is unusual for her. And she has not peed for 6 hours.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

She is having diarrhea and dehydration. Common signs of dehydration in Infant are low urine output (not peed or lesser number of wet diapers), decreased oral intake, dry lips and mouth, shrunkun eye balls, lesser saliva etc. And dehydration should be treated immediately in Infant. So immediately take her to pediatrician and start Intravenous fluid, zinc tablet, probiotic and oral rehydration solution (ORS).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
