What Causes Mucus In Stool And Diarrhea?

Hi there I have noticed mucus snowflakes in the toilet. This has accompanied a mixture of loose stools that look like a cow pat - very oily and a lot of it, quite light in colour with very hard but small pieces of stool, again a lot of it. I can go to the toilet many times, yesterday it was 8 times. I can get pain too and feel and look very bloated. GP says it s probably IBS but I m wondering if it could be something else. Been tested for celiac this was negative.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I agree with your doctor that the symptoms seem to be related to irritable bowel syndrome.

I suggest using an over the counter option for the diarrhoea such as Imodium.

I also suggest using daily probiotics.

I recommend to use a healthy diet and drink liquids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
