What Causes Mucus In Stool Of An Infant?

Hi, My son is having mucus in his stool since he was 3 months old. Now he is 7 months. Initially he was having green mucus now its orange in colour. I gave him meiji fmt till 6 months then i switched to buffalo milk with doctors advice. He passes stool 3 to 5 times a day. An average of 3 stools a day. He looks physically fit with no cramps or rashes on skin. He is active and always happy. I have noticed that mucus in his stool increases after i give him cerelac or mangoes. I dont know but may be he has problem with these things. I gave his stool in laboratory for stool r/e but they reported negative for mucus and blood. What do you think might be wrong with him?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

The symptoms can be related to a gastrointestinal intolerance to cerelac or mangos. I suggest to avoid giving your son these foods. I also suggest to give him daily probiotics such as Enterogermina.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
