What Causes Mucus In Stool While On Laxatives For Constipation?

Hello!I am having intestinal issues. I ve been constipated for over a month now. Occasionally taking gentle lacitives for it. I figured by now whatever was wrong with me would be cleared out but I m still having problems and Imm starting to get worried. There is also mucus in my stool whenever I DO go, which is rare. I m making a doctors appointment tomorrow but I m wondering what might be wrong now

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of mucus in stool while on laxatives for constipation which can occur due to many reasons and it is extremely important to find out the exact cause. It seems to be due to mainly lack of fibres in diet and due to poor electrolye balance.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Drink one spoon of honey in warm water daily.

- Take diet rich in fibres and take plenty of fluids in diet.

- Light exercises will be very helpful.

I would advise you to consult a physician or gastroenterologist and get examination done like complete blood count, stool examination, ultrasound scan of abdomen, colonoscopy. You should start treatment after complete examination.
