What Causes Mucus In Stool While Suffering From Gastric Problems?

Dear Doctor I am discharging mucus or sticky jelly like substance for One and half year but no pain as i suffering from gastric problem having acidity and consult a doctor written some test such as CBC and OCCULT BLOOD TEST which is normal. Only mucus presence come postive,so what is reason of mucus in stool as i have stool test three times but no blood found and aslo have no weight loss no fever Regards

Hello,

The gastric upset or gastritis is not the underlying cause of concern for mucus in the stool , which is production of colon part. The remainder possibilities could be malabsorption issues, digestive enzyme deficiencies, pancreas or duodenal pathologies, inflammatory bowel diseases or others. In my clinic, I do recommend a colonoscopy report for best evaluation and if required a biopsy of large bowel may be need of time depending upon the concern of treating gastroenterologist.
