What Causes Mucus Plug Discharge And Cramping After Birth Control Removal?

Hello I had my birth control removed 10 days ago. But 3days ago I start to experience what was a mucus plug discharge, it lasted 2days and have been experiancing cramping for 2days. The birth control I had was suppose to be in me for 3yrs but removed it a year and a half early. I had taken a pregnancy test 2weeks ago and it was negative, what s wrong with me?
