I have noticed there is sometimes a build up of mucus under my toung. It comes out of little holes in my silava glands and if I press on the floor of my mouth with the tip of my toung towards the front of my mouth I can see it come out of the little holes that I believe to be spit glands. This has only been happening for a couple of weeks and I am very courious about it. What could be the cause?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain thick mucous build up under the tongue can be due to two reasons: 1. There is reduced serous component [watery component]of the saliva caused by certain conditions that causes dry mouth.. 2. There can be infection in the salivary glad and the mucous secretion is Pus.. In both the conditions you need to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and the treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case of reduced serous secretions sour candies, lemon drops and sugar free chewing gums can help in initiating saliva flow and more serous fluid.. In case of infection in the gland antibiotics can help..
Hope this information helps..
