Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I think I may have ETD in my right ear, as I hear a crackling sound and am experiencing a slight muffled sound when I speak. I can't seem to "pop" it. I have started trying Dymista I have had from a previous nasal condition to see if it will help. I face down to the floor and spray It perpendicular to nose to get into Eustachian tube. Wondering if it could be an ear wax issue, too. As a pilot, lately, I have had to constantly yawn on the descent to keep It open. Any suggestions would be great!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have muffled hearing while speaking. Well because of sinusitis there is swelling at the nasal end of the Eustachian tube causing blockage sensation in the ear , which produce muffled noise .Another reason is when the infected sinus secretions trickle down into the throat, they carry the infected material from the sinus, which in turn leads to inflammation of the pharyngeal wall. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like endoscopy and CT scan to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin along with anti inflammatory , decongestant and expectorant . For now take steam several times a day which will help along .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
