What Causes Muffled Sound And Pressure In Ears After Smoking Weed?
I just went to the ent for now the third time in 3 weeks and thought that I was having an issue with dead skin covering my ear canal which is causing muffled sound and pressure. Each time they sucked the skin out the pressure was alleviated and I was cool for 24hours and then would come back. I ve now noticed that smoking (weed specifically) and my ear instantly plugged back up. I m no fool.. I think I ve found the catalyst to my problem. My question is, why only now am I having this problem? I ve been a smoker for a few years now. Is this something I will have to give up? Will my Eustachian tubes self correct themselves if I stop smoking for a while? Please help and thanks -ds
Cannot say in your particular case. First of all, marijuana cigarettes are not made as well as regular ones and require a much higher sucking pressure. This pressure is transmitted to the inner ear and that changes things. 1) you built up the muscles to really suck hard now and you didn't have the strength of suck before. 2) marijuana in some people causes some allergic responses. Any allergic response is an immune one and require time (usually a month) for it to build up. 3) different batches of marijuana may have pesticides that change secretion. There are probably many other reasons, and there is something called an N of One test in which you do something a few times and see that you get the same result. This essentially proves causality. But I'd wonder about different methods of taking in pot that do not require inhaling and if different batches do the same thing.
