What Causes Multiple Periods In A Month?

Hi I was diagnosed with PCOS about 8 years ago and I have always had very few periods. But all of a sudden, in the past 3 months I have had back to back periods. (about 3 periods within the same month) I would just like to know what the possible cause(s) of this could be? Thank you.
