Hi,

Atrial fibrillation causes occasional stagnation of blood in atria, which causes blood to clot (thrombosis). These clots when gets dislodged into brain arteries, causes blockage and stroke. To prevent this, drugs like warfarin/aspirin are given regularly. Also, if fibrillation is not getting controlled with medication, ablation is the best option. Your doctor will discuss these details.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
